Modern EducateHR began as a single consulting practice focused on superintendent searches and school human resources. As our work grew, we saw that the organizations we serve often need more than one kind of expertise. A district in the middle of a leadership search may also be negotiating a contract, reviewing policy, or working through a personnel concern.
The Modern EducateHR Network brings together four experienced consultants under one name, so clients can find the right expertise in one place. Each consultant brings a distinct background, from human resources and labor relations to school finance, school safety, and special education. When an organization reaches out, we connect them with the consultant best suited to the work, or assemble a team when the work calls for one.
Modern EducateHR is endorsed by the Nevada Association of School Boards (NASB) for superintendent search services. Our consultants have also held leadership roles in the Nevada Association of School Superintendents, served on state commissions and task forces, and been recognized at the state and national levels for their leadership.
Superintendent and executive searches are conducted through Modern EducateHR, with our consultants working together as a team. For our other services, including investigations, contract negotiations, mediation, policy development, and leadership coaching, you'll work directly with the consultant best suited to your needs through their own firm.

Joe Girdner recently retired as Superintendent of the Storey County School District. Before that, he served as Executive Director of Human Resources for the Douglas County School District, Principal of Douglas High School, and Assistant Principal at Carson High School. Joe brings deep experience in school leadership and human resources at both the building and district levels.

Todd Hess has dedicated nearly three decades to the Storey County School District, where he served as a teacher, coach, principal of every school in the district, and superintendent. He was named Administrator of the Year by the Nevada Association of School Boards in 2011 and Co-Superintendent of the Year in 2023, and he received the Individual School Safety Award from the International School Safety Institute in 2020. Todd consults through his firm, Hessolutions.

Dr. David Jensen served for more than 13 years as Superintendent of the Humboldt County School District, where he spent his entire career, beginning as a school psychologist. He was named Nevada Superintendent of the Year in 2017, served as President of the Nevada Association of School Superintendents, represented superintendents on the Nevada State Board of Education, and served eight years on the AASA Governing Board. His expertise includes school finance, contract negotiations, human resources, school safety, special education, and policy development. David consults through his firm, Jensen Professional Services.

Keith Lewis brings more than 28 years of public education experience, finishing his career as Superintendent of the Douglas County School District after serving as its Executive Director of Human Resources. He has extensive experience in negotiations, personnel investigations, Title IX, and policy development. Keith served as Vice President and Secretary-Treasurer of the Nevada Association of School Superintendents and was appointed by the Governor to the Nevada Commission for Professional Standards.
Modern EducateHR Network consultants are independent professionals who operate through their own firms. Except for superintendent and executive searches, which are contracted through Modern EducateHR, each engagement is contracted directly with the individual consultant's company.
