Why Churchill County? Let Us Tell You Why!

About Churchill County School District

Nestled in the heart of Fallon, Nevada, the Churchill County School District serves students from early childhood through high school with a strong commitment to academic excellence, personal growth, and community connection. The District’s intentional grade structure includes three elementary schools organized by grade level as a K–1 school, a 2–3 school, and a 4–5 school, allowing for developmentally focused instruction that supports students at each stage of their learning. Churchill County School District also includes one Early Childhood Education Center, one middle school, and Churchill County High School, all dedicated to nurturing curiosity, resilience, and engaged learners prepared for life beyond the classroom.

As a leader here, you’ll have the opportunity to work alongside dedicated educators, families, and community partners who believe in the transformative power of public education and the potential of every student.

A Community That Supports Schools & Families

Fallon is proudly known as the “Oasis of Nevada,” a community rooted in agricultural heritage and small-town spirit, located just about 60 minutes east of Reno, and within 90 minutes of Lake Tahoe. Its fertile Lahontan Valley setting offers a welcoming, close-knit environment where residents enjoy the best of rural living with access to cultural, recreational, and outdoor amenities.

One of Fallon’s most distinctive features is that it is home to Naval Air Station Fallon, a premier U.S. Navy training facility. The presence of NAS Fallon contributes to the community’s stability, diversity, and strong sense of service, and reinforces the close partnership between schools, families, and the broader community in supporting students from a wide range of backgrounds.

From community celebrations and arts events to nature-based experiences:

  • The region’s vast wetlands at the Stillwater National Wildlife Refuge attract internationally significant bird migrations and offer year-round outdoor engagement, complemented by abundant recreation opportunities including Sand Mountain, Lahontan Reservoir, and easy access to extensive off-road trails.
  • Historic downtown Fallon offers charming local shops, farm-to-table restaurants showcasing locally sourced products, and vibrant cultural venues, including the Oats Park Arts Center.
  • Annual traditions such as the Lattin Farm Corn Maze & Fall Festival, the Fallon Cantaloupe Festival, and the Annual Christmas Tree Lighting and Fireworks on Maine Street reflect the community’s strong sense of pride, hospitality, and deep-rooted traditions.
  • Fallon balances community warmth with opportunity. It’s a place where educational leaders can forge meaningful partnerships, help shape the future of the district, and enjoy a high quality of life in one of Nevada’s most inviting small cities.
